How is my donation used in the elephant adoption program?

As an elephant adopter, your support helps provide essential care for your adopted elephant, including nutritious food and veterinary care. Your contribution also supports elephant-friendly sanctuaries that follow humane and ethical practices, always putting elephant welfare first.

Your adoption also helps fund projects that protect and improve the lives of other animals. These include ending the abuse and exploitation of wild animals and improving the welfare of farm animals in Thailand to create a more sustainable, safe, and humane food system.

By adopting an elephant, you are helping create lasting change for Thai elephants, wild animals, farm animals, and countless other animals. Together, we can build a better world where animals are protected and treated with compassion.

Can one elephant have more than one adopter?

We do not limit the number of adopters per elephant, as more elephant adopters help us create greater change in animal lives.

Where do the elephants selected for the program come from?

Accepted Answer

All five elephants selected for this program reside in elephant-friendly camps supported by World Animal Protection Thailand. These camps are truly "elephant-friendly" and are ready to serve as models for other elephant camps in elevating elephant welfare. They have expressed their commitment and work alongside World Animal Protection Thailand and its supporters to end the abuse and captivity of elephants, which is a major current issue.

Can I visit the elephant I adopted?

The Foundation is delighted to invite elephant adopters to join the “Meet Your Elephant” trip at the end of each year, free of charge, under specified conditions. Please see details at https://www.worldanimalprotection.or.th/About-fundraising/meet-your-elephant/

If you wish to visit the elephant on your own outside of this activity, you can contact the Foundation for staff to coordinate with the elephant camp and receive special admission rates. Call 02 007 1767 press 1 or email supporters@worldanimalprotection.or.th

Question 5

After adopting an elephant, will I receive any information or documents?

Accepted Answer

Elephant adopters will receive emails to get to know your adopted elephant better, along with various news updates (please tick the ▢ box to receive news from the Foundation on the donation form to ensure you receive our updates).

Adopter will also receive:
o A certificate and a souvenir set from World Animal Protection Thailand
o News updates and progress on other Foundation projects via email and a quarterly magazine (Hero Magazine) delivered by post
o Invitations to special events related to animal protection and welfare organized by World Animal Protection

Question 6

What happens if the elephant you adopted passes away?

Accepted Answer

As most elephants in the program are quite old, if the elephant you adopted passes away, the Foundation reserves the right to randomly select a new elephant for you to adopt, notifying you via email and contact number. However, if you wish to change the elephant to adopt, you can inform the Foundation at Tel. 02 007 1767 or via email supporters@worldanimalprotection.or.th

How long can I adopt an elephant?

Accepted Answer

The elephant adoption program will continue, and we need your support to keep it going. However, you have the right to cancel your adoption at any time by contacting our Supporter Relations team at 02 007 1767 or via email supporters@worldanimalprotection.or.th.

Question 8

When will my donation be charged?

Accepted Answer

The system will charge your donation on the first day you enter your information and confirm the donation on the website. Subsequent payments will be automatically charged on the 5th of every month.

Question 9

Can I use this donation for tax deduction?

Accepted Answer

Donations to World Animal Protection Thailand are not yet tax-deductible. However, we will send you a donation certificate for the amount you have contributed.
